Equine Sports Massage

Over the last 15 years of being an equine massage therapist, I had the opportunity to work with many horses from rescue horses to high level competition horses in all kinds of disciplines, including dressage, jumping, Western pleasure, draft horses, gaited horses, and OTTBs.

How can massage help my horse?

Muscular pain can often manifest as behavioral issues or training blocks a horse may display that can often be helped or completely resolved with bodywork. Being both a rider/trainer and equine massage therapist allows me to be able to link why a horse behaves a certain way to muscular tension patterns he may have. Massage therapy can help horses perform optimally, whether it's a walk down the trail or a horse show.

Benefits of Massage:

  • Identify tension patterns affecting performance
  • Promote relaxation
  • Promote freedom of movement and improvement in gaits
  • Help prevent injuries by identifying and releasing tension patterns and restrictions in movement

How long is the session?

Equine massage therapy appointments are 45 minutes long. I often will discuss training or behavioral issues a client may have with their horse and how they could be related to what I feel with massage. Saddle fit can also be addressed. I encourage the horse owner to be present at time of massage so that they can learn more about their horse.
